Welcome to our wonderful school – an exciting place to be!

I am Jess Butler, the proud Headteacher of Stephen Freeman Primary School. My 2 children and I joined Stephen Freeman in September 2016. I am totally committed to ensuring that all pupils in our care are given the best possible start to their education. I have high expectations of everyone – pupils, staff, parents, governors and myself. Being a firm believer in developing the whole child, a huge focus is placed on the personal and social development of children and their emotional welfare as a foundation for further learning. We have fantastic children, dedicated and motivated staff and supportive governors and parents who work together as a strong team to encourage everyone, whatever their role, to develop and grow. Staff are passionate about the pupils which helps to create a family atmosphere within the school. Our 8 Learning Skills (being creative, a risk taker, resilient, purposeful, an effective communicator, self-motivated, reflective and responsible) underpin our aim to create life-long learners with passion and drive to succeed.

Our Ofsted report from March 2017 stated that:

“Parents are delighted with the changes the new Headteacher has implemented.”

“The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development is good.”

“All parents [….] would recommend the school to another parent.”

“Teachers have higher expectations about what the pupils can achieve.”

“Teaching is improving rapidly and pupils’ progress is increasing steadily.”

As a staff team, we are forward-thinking and embrace challenges and change. As such, we are keen to share our ongoing successes linked to the Ofsted report.

Our website contains a wealth of useful information about our school. If you would like a paper copy of any of the information on the website, please contact a member of the school office team.
